True.com (True Beginnings) is an online dating website with an estimated $10 million+ members. True.com’s differentiator is its use of background checks and Psychology Today® compatibility test endorsement.
Like most dating sites, True.com offers standard (free) and upgraded (paid) membership offerings. A paid member has access to compatibility tests, chat rooms, video messaging, email, and advanced profile viewing. Monthly membership costs around $50 per month. True.com also offers a customer “hook” with the “3-Day Trial” offering. Here online daters sign up for the service and submit their credit card information, then subsequently create a profile, and view profiles free for three days. Here’s the catch, if you do not cancel within the period of the trial, you will automatically be billed for a full month’s subscription to True.com, the True.com Coaching Center Profile Service and TRUE Chat.
Judging from True.com’s history of lawsuits, you may not want to get involved with a membership. In fact, in A lawsuit filed in 2007 claimed that after cancelling, members were still being billed erroneously. OnlineDatingMagazine.com features several complaints about the tactics True.com uses to make a profit off online dating profiles. This letter to the editor showcases one True.com member upset that they were charged repeatedly for services they neither used, nor wanted.
Now might be the time to cancel your True.com membership. If so, CancelWizard has outlined all the steps you’ll need to take to terminate your membership below:
