Cancel AT&T DSL

The popular phone company, AT&T offers landline and mobile phone services, as well as DSL Internet service.

As with many other DSL providers, canceling AT&T DSL can waste a lot of time and energy. On the Consumerist, a popular website where consumers express their frustrations and give advice on how to cancel popular (or unpopular) services, a blogger (as well as many other bloggers) gives a sobering, and unfortunate account of how to cancel your AT&T DSL account.

AT&T does provide a customer service number if you wish to cancel your account. However, you should be advised that the customer service representatives and sales teams are trained to offer you inexpensive plans and alternative options in order to keep you as a customer. If you don’t want to waste time, money, and most importantly, energy on the phone you can let CancelWizard cancel your AT&T DSL account for you.

If you’re prepared to spend time canceling your AT&T DSL service plan, then read on. We at CancelWizard have outlined the steps you need to take to cancel your service.

What You’ll Need:

  • Your original AT&T DSL contract (available here via login)
  • Access to your AT&T online account
  • Account information
  • Personal information
  • Products associated with your DSL service
  • Billing information associated with account

Steps to Cancel:

  1. Log in to your AT&T member area using your member ID and password.
  2. Navigate to the page where you see your account information. Follow the prompts to cancel your service online.
  3. If you are having difficulty finding the right web page, call or live chat AT&T at the numbers listed here: http://www.att.com/contactus/index/internet.html
  4. Notify the representative of the initial date your contract was signed, what services you use through AT&T, and your reason for canceling. Be firm with the representative if you truly want to cancel. Sales tactics may lure you in to staying on as a paying DSL subscriber.
  5. Ask the customer service representative what cancelation fees you should expect to see on your account. If you cancel sooner than your contract expires, you can expect to pay additional cancellation fees.
  6. Ask for a confirmation number to ensure you have paperwork associated your cancelation.
  7. Review your bank statement following the call to ensure the numbers you discussed over the phone match up with what you anticipated.
