Surely Halifax has had happy customers, but if you had a band interaction you may want to cancel your credit card instead of calling back and speaking with a better rep. 

If you own a Halifax credit card and wish to cancel it by yourself, here’s what you need and how to cancel:

What You’ll Need:

• Halifax credit card
• Pin number
• Name on card
• Primary address, email, and phone associated with the card

Steps to Cancel by Phone:

1. Make sure your Halifax credit card is paid off completely - $0 balance.
2. Call the Halifax customer services department on 08708 50 02 43 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday or 9 a.m. to 5 p.m  Saturday.
3. Verify your account by giving the customer service representative your name and account information. 
4. State that you would like to cancel your Halifax Credit Card. Cite a reason for canceling as well.
5. The customer service may try to use sales tactics to keep you from canceling your card. Be firm in your decision to cancel. Make sure that you proactively ask the representative the steps that are needed to complete the cancellation process. 
6. Write down the representative’s name and if possible a confirmation number once your cancellation is processed.
7. Wait 30 days and review your bank statement to ensure you do not have any additional charges coming from Halifax.
8. If all is well, cut up your card into small pieces and throw them away.
