True Credit is a subdivision of the company TransUnion, and provides “free” credit reporting to those concerned or curious about their credit score. The company offers a free credit score that requires you to sign up for a trial subscription to a credit monitoring service. What some consumers don’t realize is that if you don't cancel within the week of signing up for the service, you will be charged every month until you cancel.

Unfortunately, True Credit has multiple customer grievances when it comes to canceling the service. Here are some of the complaints on Complaints Board.

Steps to Cancel:

1. Call True Credit’s customer service line at 1-800-493-2392 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
2. Follow the prompts to speak to a customer service representative. Once you get a representative on the phone, let them know you want to cancel your service. Be specific with them about the type of membership you signed up for, when the free trial started, and why you want to cancel.
3. Using sales tactics, the representative may continue to try to convince you to keep the memership.
4. Stay strong; keep repeating that you no longer want the service.
5. The representative will process your cancellation request. You'll get an email confirming your cancellation. Keep the information - including any confirmation numbers and the name of the representative you spoke to on the phone.
6. Watch your credit card statements 30 and 60 days after you cancel the service to make sure you don’t have any extra charges coming from True Credit.
