FreeCreditReport.com has used catchy jingles and consumers’ emotions to create a recognizable brand. With the rise of identity theft and fraud, not to mention the importance of clean credit when it comes to buying a home, car or even smaller items, they know how much the average American cares about their credit score. Their shtick: giving you a free look at it.
The problem is, of course, that the look is not exactly free. In fact, since 2010, the “free” look has actually cost a dollar. And it’s only free for seven days; if you don’t cancel within that time period, you are billed a costly fee every month until you cancel, which isn’t all that easy.
If you've signed up but don't want to pay, your only option is to call and cancel, hopefully within the seven-day window. Although they’ll let you sign up online, they do make you call to cancel in the hopes of convincing you to stay on the plan and reap its many benefits. Granted, it is a good idea to monitor your credit regularly, so if you think you’d use the service, feel free. However, if you remain unconvinced of the benefits and don’t like FreeCreditReport.com’s tactics, we’ve provided the helpful cancellation tutorial below.
So how did it go? Were you able to cancel your FreeCreditReport.com account with no hassle? If not, take heart: You’re not the first to have trouble, so CancelWizard is happy to help you get the job done. Simply click the “Use Our Cancellation Service” button and we’ll get started right away, with no further headache for you!
