Sometimes it feels like you’re signing your life away when signing a gym contract. Sometimes they can be difficult to cancel and it feels like you’re locked in for years. L.A. Fitness was one such national gym that had a reputation for being difficult to cancel, but they changed their protocol and now they are among the easiest!
Following an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading, in 2013 L.A. Fitness agreed to make it easier for its members to cancel contracts, according to The Guardian. The newspaper reports that “the changes, which come into affect immediately, will mean members are allowed to cancel their contracts early should their circumstances change in a way that makes attendance at the gym difficult or unaffordable – for example if they lose their job or suffer an injury."
This doesn’t mean that canceling your gym membership is a cinch. It requires time, patience, and the right resources. Thankfully CancelWizard is here to help you out…
Typically, you can visit your local gym to cancel or send a letter to their corporate offices. Since gyms utilize written contracts, CancelWizard strongly recommends that any changes or cancellations be in writing so that you have documentation should anything get messy. Read on for general instructions on how to cancel your L.A. Fitness account (these should NOT be used as a substitute for the cancellation instructions found in your membership agreement or L.A. Fitness' own instructions):
